Should I fix/replace my iPhone 2G that has no warranty or buy a 3G from Craigslist for around the same price?
Hi, I have an iPhone 2G with a couple of problems, including problems with the headphone jack, touch screen, and speaker. I have 2 questions… It will take $200 to try to get it serviced right in the Apple Store because I have no warranty. If they can’t fix all of the problems, will they replace it? Also, should I just buy a 3G or a 2G or a 3G S when it comes out and not take the chance of wasting $200 if they won’t replace it?
NOTE: I am not on the iPhone data pakage, I am using another SIM. Still AT&T SIM though. Also, I don’t want to buy the package. I know the 3G is only $99 now. I don’t want to be tied to the contract. Thanks in advance!
1. Without a contract, the 3g 8gb is $499. The 3gs will be over $600.
2. Apple will not replace your phone.
3. I doubt you can find an authentic used 3g for $200. They are less than a year old and anyone who is selling one has had to pay an early termination fee on top of the price they paid for the phone. Even the iClones that are being marketed as real are more than $200.
There’s no cheap solution if you don’t want a contract.
